On behalf of our client, Affinity staffing is seeking a Technical Specialist with web infrastructure systems administration and technical support capabilities to join their Middleware Platforms team and help support their application and integration hosting platforms.  The client is embarking on large scale system upgrades as part of a multi-year business renewal initiative. This Transformation Program offers technical professionals a once in a career opportunity to participate in defining and implementing a technical portfolio of this magnitude.  WebSphere Application Server and IBM Integration Bus are the anchor technologies for their Middleware Platforms.
As Technical Specialist for Middleware Platforms, you will have a role in sustaining and enhancing our platforms in support of business change. This includes:
  • Systems administration and technical support
  • Level 3 (senior) problem analysis and root cause analysis
  • Performance tuning, capacity planning and analysis
  • Technical implementation planning and delivery
  • Scripting and automating maintenance tasks
  • Consulting with application development teams
You will work closely with IT professionals and build experience supporting these exciting technologies.

Position Requirements

The following technical support experience will be required:
  • Web infrastructure, application hosting, integration hosting, and/or systems administration experience in an enterprise environment
  • Scripting skills and automation techniques
  • Experience with key, critical web infrastructure and/or application infrastructure
The following specified technical skills are used by the Middleware Platforms team. Experience with any of these is an asset:
  • Java or .NET application platforms administration (WebSphere Application Server, WebLogic, IIS, Tomcat)
  • Middleware application administration (Datapower, Integration Bus, Message Queue
  • UNIX or Linux systems administration
  • Web infrastructure (Proxies, Network Load Balancers, Firewalls, PKI)
  • Monitoring technologies (Splunk, Nagios, SCOM, Opnet)
  • Automation technologies (Puppet, Jenkins, SVN)
  • Directory services (LDAP, AD)
