Summary of Job
First-line manager of a team of resources consisting of 14 or more Software Developers. Direct management and supervisory position that leads and manages onshore teams as well as a 4-person offshore team. Delegates and oversees assigned work and tasks from inception through completion. Hands-on position with ability to complete work tasks similar to team under management. Management of projects and ability to effectively resolve problems.
 
Technical Knowledge
Extensive experience with the .NET framework, C#, ASP.NET, MVC, REST, HTML, JavaScript in prior roles during the candidate's career.
 
Leadership Skill or Capability
  • Effective coaching, mentoring, and teaching direct reports
  • Proactive approach to problem resolution
  • Effective conflict management to limit unproductive disagreements
  • Team building and motivation to achieve high levels of quality and output
  • Ability to articulate a shared vision and provide clarity for your team or direct reports
 
Essential Functions
  • Manage staff work assignments and effective task completion (25%)
  • Manage projects from inception through completion; manage and mitigate risks (25%)
  • Interview and hire staff; terminate when necessary (5%)
  • Evaluate, improve, and implement team processes (10%)
  • Teach, mentor, and grow skills and careers of staff (10%)
  • Hands-on technical tasks in area of domain (10%)
  • Communication of project and team status (5%)
  • Motivate and reward team and staff; provide feedback and recognition (10%)
 
Skills and Abilities Required
  • Direct management of technical staff from entry level through senior and lead levels
  • Effective project management skills and the ability to lead projects from inception through completion
  • Ability to solve problems and resolve conflicts
  • Very good communication skills and the ability to write effectively
  • Excellent technical skills in their area domain of management
  • Ability to motivate, reward and provide constructive criticism and corrective action
  • Ability to teach, mentor and enhance skills of staff
  • Hands-on skills to participate in technical tasks of team under management
  • Ability to delegate and achieve desired results from direct reports and provide accountability at an individual and team level
  • Skills to evaluate current methods and practices and implement process improvement measures to mature methods and increase effectiveness
  • Ability to set goals, evaluate and measure performance, and provide informal and formal feedback on performance
  • Interviewing skills and the ability to evaluate and hire new staff at various career levels
